A fun-filled weekend with lifelong friends evolved into a life changed forever. Brian was not expected to survive. Follow the trials and triumphs of Brian Sweeney, traumatic brain injury survivor in his book every 21 seconds and the film Every 21 Seconds. Brian D. Sweeney grew up on the south side of Chicago and currently resides in the south suburbs of Chicago with his wife and four children.
Over the years he has worked with TBI survivors and their families. Brian has been an advocate for those with traumatic brain injuries for years. He has spoken at universities, corporations, hospitals, high schools, brain injury seminars and rehabilitation facilities. Brian has raised money for inner city youth with TBIs so they can receive therapy. Brian has also been the subject of multiple news articles as well as an NBC news special regarding TBI. Brian has appeared on ESPN where he did a TBI special with former Chicago Bear Tom Waddle. He has worked with those who have suffered TBIs and always saw possibilities where others see limitations. His goal has always been to open the doors of the all to often misunderstood world of life with a traumatic brain injury. His willingness to discuss the subject matter in an honest, eloquent, and, at times, comedic format exposes readers to a world very few know exists. Every 21 seconds reveals how a brain injury affects survivors and dramatically changes the lives of those around them.

“Having my story become a voice for the millions who have suffered this injury has always been a dream of mine. It still amazes me to this day that the book I wrote was about my life. Yet traumatic brain injuries happen to thousands of people every day, and over a million people every year. When it happened to me, suddenly, unexpectedly, and immediately my life was forever changed. I am very pleased to see this story about my life-altering injury being developed into a film by Two 9 Productions and Road 28 Productions. This film is to show, tell, and to educate the world about this important issue of traumatic brain injuries."
